Well, I never thought I would drink Mescal ever again. Since that unfortunate time I had too much of a good time and over did it. I was out of commission for two days. Never again… until today. There’s this new restaurant slash bar in Bellflower, CA. Located on Bellflower Blvd, the theme instantly draws your attention. Kalaveras, a twist on calaveras, spanish for skeletons. The decor was awesome and it definitely set the mood for some mixed liquor. The walls were on covered in huge paintings of Spanish actors that have passed on with one side of their faces in a Dia de los Muertos fashion.
The Menu was interesting. The drinks had clever names such as “No Mames” (spanish slang for no way) and were very descriptive. I decided to go for the Spicy Cucumber Mescal drink. It was hot and I needed something refreshing and there’s not anything more refreshing than a cucumber drink.
The drink arrived after a quick minute and it came in a small unique round glass with Tajin Seasoning (5oz)
and salt on one side of the rim and down the side. Having a thing for Tajin, I instantly licked the side of the cup, not caring if anyone was looking. The drink itself, was delicious. you could taste the smokiness of the Mezcal. It wasn’t over bearing and it wasn’t too weak. It mixed well with the muddled cucumbers.
I finished it rather quickly and ordered another. Why not it’s Sunday fun day anyways.
